Incredible Read! Highly Recommended. - DD - 10/10/2010 22:46:17
To be blunt, I loved this book. Schofield writes with the easy confidence of a master and it's hard to believe this is his first book.Don't let the book's cover or title fool you; the story is about an international manhunt (womanhunt?) for Grace Palliser. Grace's already out of control life gets even messier, after her natural curiosity and sense of foul-play lands her in the middle of a fraud of international proportions. The more she finds out, the more Grace has to fear and that has her on the run for her life.Schofield weaves a story that is not only compelling to read, but a conspiracy-minded person might think that the fraud that is the backbone of the story is actually happening all over the world right now. You will find yourself being pulled into the story by its believability and won't want to put it down.Suffice it to say, I highly recommend this book. Don't be surprised if you see it on the big screen sometime in the future!

A great read by an accomplished writer - MG - 14/12/2010 11:55:00
Flight Risks is an astonishingly assured and accomplished debut novel. Its fast-moving plot has many twists but all are deftly handled and the reader is kept thoroughly entertained from start to finish. But this is not just a rollicking good read. The characters are well-rounded and convincing and the settings complement the plot. Highly recommended - and more, please, from this writer!

I picked up Flight Risks hoping to be entertained and I was not disappointed in the slightest. Doug Schofield expertly weaves a believable and intricate story together that keeps you turning pages till way past your bedtime. I couldn’t put this book down and at one point got up in the middle of the night to discover what was going to happen next. This is a very well written, terrifically choreographed suspense thriller. It grabs your attention from the first page and is littered with believable characters and events. This writer has left me hopeful that his next book is already at the publisher because I want to order one now!

LIGHTS,CAMERA, ACTION! - Alfred Humphreys - 30/12/2010 15:03:35
Wow!! What a great read. And to think that "Flight Risks" is Douglas Schofield's first novel ?! I can't wait for his next one! Flight Risks reads like an action film. Mr Schofield draws you into the story with rich and well developed characters and you feel you’re right there in the middle of the action. You just have to read this book, then hope it comes out as a feature film! The question I have is… who could possibly play the role of Grace Pallister?

A splendid read - Robin McMillan - 01/01/2011 00:58:38
Douglas Schofield has written a most accomplished and well crafted first thriller novel. It has drama, plot, structure and character development. Spanning 3 different countries, it introduces us to a troubled young heroine and her perilous journey, while also educating us on a number of technical matters which become central to the unfolding of the story. It is highly recommended as a book that one cannot put down.

So it's been a while since you've read a really great book, right? One that you can't put down? One that keeps you up past bedtime because you just have to know what happens next? If you're looking for such a book, Flight Risks by Douglas Schofield is the one. This reader was captured from the early pages by the quickly unfolding story. Schofield's easy and simple style of writing brings such vividness to his characters, scenes, the action, and the suspense and does not get in the way of his story's breakneck speed. And best of all, he skillfully ties up the entire story in the final chapter with an ending that took this reader completely by surprise. In the final chapter, Schofield returns to a detail that initially seems trivial but the significance of which ties up one more loose thread in a stunning and satisfying manner. Flight Risks is a thoroughly absorbing read!!

Watch this author: he´s a future bestseller! - Tricia H - Hampshire - 08/01/2011 14:36:41
This first novel by Douglas Schofield is a real page-turner. Reading it, I was surprised that it *was* a debut novel - that's how accomplished the writing is. The main character, Grace, is a gutsy, intelligent girl - a very human and sympathetic character, complete with a handful of flaws and problems - who rises to every challenge the author throws at her. There are some pretty tough situations here, but everything is believable and real, especially the dialogue, at which, I feel, this author excels. It's quite a task for any author to write believably from the viewpoint of someone of the opposite gender, but Mr Schofield does so very successfully, so kudos to him for that! There are also twists and tuns aplenty, with a massive one right at the end (just when you think it's all been tied up), which I definitely didn't see coming! I found the ending thought-provoking. I'm looking forward to reading more from this talented author. Well done, Douglas Schofield!

I have finally found the girl of my dreams, Grace Paliser in a first rate book called Flight Risks but sadly it is fiction. A friend gave me this terrific bit of writing by Doug Schofield because I live in Victoria and the plot kicks off here, and what a start it is. Mr Schofield plays with our emotions setting up the structure of a playful law firm drama when in fact he is about to throw us over the edge into one of the most thrilling adventures starring the aforementioned Grace. As the puzzle starts to entangle us our guiding light is this darling of protaginists who with the will of Moses refuses in the face of one horror after the other, to lie down and die. My heart was racing from start to finish with no let up in sight. If I have one criticism of the author is that he is relentless in keeping me on the edge of my seat and unable to sleep. Grace is pursued from Victoria to New Orleans to the Caymans and onto Florida by one of the great villians in recent memory, Pendercast. I was unable to sleep properly until I finished this wonderful book by this first-time author. I can only hope that Mr. Schofield will be kind enough after I replenish my sleep to gift us with another book along the lines of Flight Risks and hopefully I shall see my girl Grace Paliser again soon.
