a lively run from death - cindy - 28/08/2010 20:51:51
i have loved tales featuring the grim reaper for as long as i can remember. from the twilight zone episode "one for the angels" to the tv show "dead like me," the personification of death has always held an odd fascination."cemetery drive" offers a refreshing new twist on this type of story...teen angst...techno-magic...a may/december romance (go, girl, go!)...death in leather...a high-speed chase around the globe and through dimensions...whats not to love? jt wilson has a crisp writing style and pitch-perfect story pacing. the darkly humorous tone matched with soaring imagination and fully fleshed-out characters (pun intended) makes this book well worth reading.

Life and death of a psychopomp - Chris Hawkes - 24/06/2011 11:57:12
A stunning first novel, J.T. Wilson's Cemetery Road is a rollercoaster mixture of fantasy, humour and the Gothic. The novel revolves around a trinity (holy? unholy?) of vividly drawn and surprisingly empathetic characters: Robbie, determined on suicide (but equally determined that his demise will be epic, spectacular); Alexa, who has already cheated death (and is anxious to keep it that way; and Death's stand-in, the psychopomp (go on, look it up!) Zan, who is ready to collect both - if he can. Of course, if he cannot, then the causal glue that binds the Universe together will fail, and we all know what THAT means. Ranging across the globe, with a bit-cast of interesting and well-drawn characters, both human and supernatural, Cemetery Drive is pacey and engaging, and the satirical edge helps make this a compelling read.Reminiscent of Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams and Neil Gaiman, but with a voice and style that is all his own, J.T. Wilson's novel is a romp and a delight. The reader leaves wanting more: and I am sure this desire at least will soon be satisfied!
